I have some clients that want me to build them websites but I am unsure about how much I should quote them. I’m new to selling sites so it should probably be a little less until I start to build up clients. Most of the clients are also small businesses without deep pockets.

I’m figuring it should be charged in tiers or something:

basic html pages cost a certain amount,
dynamic pages w/ clientside scripting (ie special navs)
serverside scripting,
database (charged per table?),
user logins, shopping carts, unique templates, designing logos, etc

These businesses are already established and want websites so they can have an online presence. most probably don’t want ecommerce

What I would like to do is set up a rewards program so my customers can earn points for purchases to redeem for free gifts. I have a small restaurant business that makes around 300k a year. I am thinking about accepting credit cards because many customers want to use credit cards but we only accept cash. How much would the startup costs be for getting a credit card system in place? Also, how much roughly are monthly fees and how much are transaction fees (estimates are fine)? Are there any contracts when signing up for credit card processing? In all honesty, would it be best for me to stay cash only or would it be better (again in your opinion) for me to go with a credit card system.

One more thing, we are more of a seasonal business in that we get most of our customers (about 75% of our income) during May-August and in November-January. Other months the business is slow.

I plan on creating a web store using another website where the shopping cart, host domain name, etc would be provided. Do I still need a merchant account? Do I need to incorporate my business or can I sell my products (around 10) on my website? I’m not going to sell through ebay because I already have some loyal customers but my products are very cheap (around 10 dollars). So what else do I need to do besides creating the website using their software?
